Despite my negative sentiments about the Halo series, I can’t deny the series unique atmosphere and charm. While I found myself completely underwhelmed by the story of Master Chief, I can’t help but feel excitement about stepping into the shoes of an ODST rookie. I thought about it a lot and I decided to take the risk. I will officially be picking up Halo ODST tonight and giving Bungie one last chance to capture my heart.
I’m not quite sure what it is that gives me hope for ODST. Perhaps it is the “open-world” hub that I hope will bring depth to an otherwise uninspired design. Could it be the return of the Firefly crew that I pray will contribute to a far more interesting narrative? How about the flashback and clue aspects of the game that give it that mystery solving appeal? Whatever it is, I think that this might finally be the Halo for me. I sure hope so, because I traded in Halo 3 to get this.
Look for ODST on the feed Tuesday night before Brad and I record the next podcast.

Bungie always gives you a great feel for their halo series. Looks great.
For a second I thought Nick bought the Dexter iPhone game
lol. Nope, can’t say that I did. But good Dexter reference…
hmm..I haven’t been paying attention to this game a whole lot but I was under the impression that it was an expansion…and thus you would need Halo 3 to play it.
Nope, ODST is a standalone game. They just refer to it as an “expansion” in the sense of it telling a different part of the story and the length of the game.

Can’t wait to see this on the feed, sadly skipping over this so that I can get the Persona PSP remake coming out on that day.
I thought the story was pretty epic in my opinion. However, the way the story was presented was awkward to say the least. Story was presented through short cutscenes rather then actual gameplay, which I believe would have been a more appropriate medium.
Good for you nick, giving Bungie one last shot. I personally think ODST is only worth it for the Fire Fight multi-player, being more of a single player person I didn’t follow the game hype, but I’ll be looking forward to Tuesday night. I hear that the campaign is half the time as Halo 3 but don’t take that as the truth. Anyway good luck Nick!
i will certainly be checking out the achives tommorrow after i stop playing it myself
“…Brad and I…” Did David already leave for J-pan?
[/Looking forward to seeing ya'll play ODST]
It’s a stand-alone game, that should be an expansion. Halo 3 with a new skin. Same gameplay, slightly different feel. I think the story will be good, but with a $60 price tag, I’m not impressed.
Same here Nick, I feel as if this might accually be a good halo game for me. I’ve never really been a fan of the series ( except number 1), but this one just feels different you know?
I’ll probably wait a bit for it to drop in price. I’m having to save up my money for Brutal Legend, Borderlands, and Left 4 Dead 2.
I’m sure you’ll tell us all about it, So let me speak for all of us when I say ” Thanks” ahead of time. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the game. Later man.

At least this halo game has a story.
