Wow, I love learning new things about Japan, their culture is so much more diverse, I never knew the Yakuza were such an established organization in Japan, I thought there were more under the radar, but they have business cards!

Also never knew that their motives aren’t so bad, although I may not agree with some of their actions, I do agree with what Jake Adelstein said about them being a “necessary evil”, can’t wait to go to University for my Japan abroad programme.

I saw the 60 Minutes interview of this guy the other week and it was a very interesting story. It really does shine light to the other side of Japan where its not just Anime Video games and sushi. Good Listen and I hope to learn more about this part of Japan that I have not been that aware of.

this looks interesting. i have been curious of japanese life for a while. anime and manga got me interested and ive seen a few japanese only films. i do want to go to japan one day to see what its like, but only after ive learned enough japanese to get by. as a personal rule for myself, if you go to another country, you need to learn the langauge or atleast enough to get by, specially if you plan on being there for a long time.

anyway, ill give this a read and listen to soon.

Thank you for puting this here. I’m planing on moving to Japan and that gives a lot new prespective about Japan that I did not now but it was very intersting and really motivates me to continue to discover this great country/culture.
