Information has been released, and it is good.

Oh so very good.

September 30, 2010 is when Final Fantasy XIV hits the shelves, and hopefully Digital Distribution, for the PC alone. The PS3 version should be arriving sometime in March for 2011.

While the beta should start letting opt-ins play in early July, if you Preorder the 79.99 Collectors editions you are guaranteed a beta opt-in eight days prior to release along with various items associated with the game.

The specs have also been released, and they are surprisingly low… at least for my ASUS.

So get out and preorder in the name of Eorzea, I think my pants are dripping with excitement!

Get ready to play!

-Travis.

I have a question. What is the little key-chain like item in the lower right corner of the picture? Is it just a perk for reserving it, or does it doe something relevant?

Its an Authenticator. Basically it randomly generates a code you have to put in when you want to log into the game. Makes it harder for people to hack into your account.

Darn, I havent prepared my PC for this. I was preparing to get the PS3 one for this, but it’s coming next year? Now I have made the choice to go PC for this game now. I need some serious upgrading to my laptop.

The good thing about PC getting it early: by the time I play the PS3 version, there will be a guide for unlocking classes and stuff that’s good to know from the very start.

If they go with the server system (which I REALLY hope they avoid) I hope you will fill the community in on what server to hop onto ;P

Also on a side note, take a look at the release dates for NA PS2/PC FFXI.

PC: October 28, 2003
PS2: March 23, 2004

It’s odd though since XI was first released on PS2 in Japan. Yet, If XIV going to be primarily developed for the PC instead of PS3, the game SHOULD have a healthier lifespan. I just don’t want to hear the excuse new features were limited by PS3 technology in the coming years… that bummed me out with XI.

Oh wow, those are some low requirements. 2.0GHz and 2 gigs of RAM sounds like some 2005 mess.

I’m excited to play this game at 75 frames per second.
