Street Fighter X Tekken Announced

As Nick Henderson would say, “Holy Balls!”  I’ve never been a huge fighting game person over the years, but fighting games which have been released lately really get my gears in a groove (recently BlazBlue has been eating up a fair amount of credits at my local arcade).  Street Fighter X Tekken, announced today at the San Diego Comic-Con, could be continuing that tradition in a very good way.

Check out the trailer below.

Holy crap this is very awesome, especially being a fan of Tekken. I just hope this means they aren’t going to work on a Tekken Tag 2. I just flipped a poo, thank you.

what everyone wonders though, 2D or 3D? and how the hell will they manage to balance this? Its a cool idea but there is gonna be some serious nerfing for both sides.

@zekana It’s confirmed to be a 3D graphics 2D gameplay like SF4. A bit troubling for you weirdo Tekken fans, but since Namco has the reigns I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to make them feel right.

This version will be developed by Capcom, so it’ll be like SF4. If Tekken fans want to experience this in Tekken form, they’ll have to get Tekken X Street Fighter. This trailer and the announcement of SF3 Third Strike: online edition has me very excited. :O

I’m more excited to hear about Tekken x Street Fighter. Supposedly, it’s supposed to be more Tekkenesque, as it is supposedly being primarily worked on by Namco, while SF x Tekken will play more like SF and worked mostly by Capcom. I’m not much of a fan of the art style of the Tekken characters in SFxT, or at least Kazuya. I also find it interesting that Kazuya could forward dash through Ryu’s hadokens, compensation for his lack of ranged attacks and sidestepping perhaps? Hopefully TxSF will be on a 3D plane, and have no ultras/ranged as it is supposed to be more like Tekken. This whole TxSF/SFxT thing could be a rumour though, i haven’t heard of the two different versions from a reliable source, but it’s being talked about by quite a lot of people.

My bad, it appears as though the trailer in the post is not the of the gameplay variety. This is the video I was referring to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6U7jZ-qMfI, for those who give a fuck.

Also, It wouldn’t surprise me if Capcom announces SF Alpha 4 and Capcom vs SNK 3 at TGS’10. That would be crazeh I tells ya!

Why hasn’t there been a Nintendo vs. [Publisher] yet?
Oh wait. I guess that’s what Smash Bros is for.

It’s worth pointing out that Namco is also working on Tekken x Street Fighter, apparently there’s 2 versions with one working on a SF style engine and one of a Tekken style engine.

Fighting games are one of my favorite genres, if there are enough people to play with. This game looks awesome so far. With this and Tekken x Street Fighter and also Marvel vs Capcom 3, its a great time to be a fighting game fan.

Really I’m more excited about Tekken X Street Fighter, since it’s using the Tekken 6 engine, and I never really cared for Street Fighter all that much, speaking specifically in terms of feel/art style, as opposed to Tekken. Gameplay looks sick though, might get the SFxT just so i can rock Team Mishima, because I’m willing to bet they won’t leave out Heihachi :D
