Remember when Atlus said they had no plans for Catherine in the US? Well soon after that announcement Atlus sent out emails with a simple question, "Do you still like us"?

At the time the answer was probably no.

But now a new website has just opened up stating that Catherine is on course for a US release sometime in the Summer of this year. The site itself seems pretty bare bones, simply linking to Amazon, Gamestop, and VGP for preorders. Keep your eyes peeled for further site updates.

SITE: http://www.catherinethegame.com/

For the uninformed Catherine is essentially a block pushing/pulling puzzle game. You play as Vincent, a rather dreary looking fellow with a penchant for drinking. The overarching conflict appears to be Vincent's dissociation with Katherine, his current girlfriend, and his secretive relationship with the younger Catherine. Vincent's daytime troubles manifest themselves into nightly nightmares. It's within these nightmares where most of the actual gameplay occurs. Vincent must evade the grotesque creatures in his dreams by scaling large structures, pulling and pushing blocks along the way to create climbable paths. Definitely a far cry from the typical RPGs Atlus is known for.

UPDATE: A new english launch trailer has also been released with english text but no dialogue. Check it out.

Can't say I feel anything about this either way since I don't really care about this genre or type of game. Also besides Demon's Souls I have never played an Atlus developed/published game.

Hahaha @ all the jackholes out there that complained about the box-art, saying, "Hurrrr, America ruins everything! America is evil, just like the Sith. This game is going to be censored to hell! Japan gets all teh cool stuffz because Japan is teh bestest, durrrr"

Personally, what I've gathered to be the general consensus, it's that the actual gameplay isn't anything to write home about. But, how the story and plot unfold is good enough to keep you going. So, it sounds kinda cool.

Sales wise? Hmm, seeing as how a good chunk of the youth today are anime infatuated/quasi-weeaboos, I expect Atlus to be more than happy with the sales they will achieve in the west.

Saw this on Kotaku, I literally screamed.

Now all I'm afraid of is them changing something drastic, due to the
Vulgar scenes? I should say. Because you know, America can't handle stuff like this.

Yesss! I'm sort of expecting a box art change now...and probably some stuff in the game.

Hopefully they take note of No More Heroes and anti-censor the U.S version. (A.k.a add blood and sexual themes everywhere they can stuff it)

*Professor Farnsworth voice* Good News everyone, Catherine IS coming to the States so it won't cost you hundreds to import.

jk, but yes this is amazing news and I can't wait to play.

I was love how you can tell who has followed Atlus for a while because they always do this. Deny the release until it's within a 3-5 month window of coming out.

Now there are only two things I ask:
    1) To release the details of sweet preorder packages that Atlus is so good at making.
    2) Reversible cover that has the XBox and PS3 version on each side. I ask this because I'll be getting the PS3 version but I prefer Katherine.

That's hilarious, man. They denied it SO STRONGLY, too. I'm just glad it's coming out in the US now. I'm sure Catherine is going to get it's fair share of sales.

Alright, I'm pumped! Played the demo, loved it.
And honestly, I think I like Atlus went the deny, then confirm route. In a time where basically nothing is kept secret, rumors are constantly proven true, and developers slipping up and confirming a title (sometimes even by saying "I cannot comment on that" or whatever), it's nice to see that they can at least keep a secret, through this means, or otherwise.

Ah, happy day! I'm excited to find more out about the story. I don't care if the gameplay isn't too fun. Heck, why not make a party of the game? Everyone watches the cutscenes, makes choices, and you pass it around during gameplay. I mean, really. Story looks good. Even if the american voice actors aren't great(which I doubt, since Atlus always pulls some nice localizations), they would probably give an option to switch. Either way, I'm excited. I could easily get two of my friends who like Atlus and we could split the price and play it together.

I am glad they went ahead and told us so soon, rather than leave us hanging for a long time. And yes, summer! Hell yes, long as it's before August!

"Are you wearing pants?" choice of replies 'Yes.", or "Uh... Yes." That's the first thing I get hit with when checking out their site. I mean that's great stuff. I would like to see more of these types of game break into the American markets.
