Japanese mag Famitsu now has details and screenshots of a new Grasshopper Manufacture game being developed called "Lollipop Chainsaw."  Reportedly, it's about a cheerleader, raised by zombie hunters, who goes on a zombie killing rampage using a magical chainsaw. Oh and the zombie spray pink blood all over the screen.

It's basically an ultra-sexy Buffy the Vampire slayer on large doses of Suda51-acid. And, of course, zombies instead of vampires.

Andriasang is reporting that Suda51 is the creative director with Akira Yamaoka handling the sound design.

Just take a look at the screenshots from Famitsu below and stand in awe at what the game can be. Rumors hint at an Xbox 360 and PS3 release so long as the horrible sales of Shadows of the Damned don't get in the way of its development.

Akira Yamaoka producing the Soundtrack again? Fuck. Yes.

But...this is my concern, "Rumors hint at an Xbox 360 and PS3 release so long as the horrible sales of Shadows of the Damned don’t get in the way of its development."

I'll say I'm interested, but I do have to say that these types of games usually end up kind of on the meh side of things.

I kinda wished weird games sell better, industry needs more games to break norms and remind us that we are playing video games.

Well according to an interview with 1up today the game is 70% done and an as of yet unnamed publisher has plans to release it in english.

The full quote reads: "No release date was given for Lollipop Chainsaw, which (according to Yasuda) already has an overseas publisher committed to releasing the game in English, although he didn't reveal who. "The game's framework is complete, and now we're deep into the fine-tuning process," Suda said. "I'd place it at around 70 percent complete. It's really a new era for zombie games -- a piece of 'pop' zombie entertainment."

    Can't say I'm really worried. http://www.1up.com/news/suda51-talks-lollipop-chainsaw

And then noone who hyped the game actually bought it, and grasshopper, suda, and akira yamaoka, fall into japanese indie hell.

Meanwhile, Massimo Guarrini saw Shadows of the Damned get shit sales and left grasshopper to form his own doof company, good times.

Also trying to figure out who that head is attached to that leg but it'll explain itself.
