There was some hub-bub when DICE started renting it's Battlefield 3 servers to the populace for a price...and then quickly shut down most of its Official servers when the service took off.  It really seemed as though they were throwing the yolk -and the price- of server availability upon the gamer. And they were. So it's no surprise that the Battlefield 3 community reacted a bit negatively to their new found responsibility.

Today DICE has announced that they have felt the pricking needle of your disappointment and have effectively quadrupled the number of Official Battlefield 3 servers.

We have heard your wish for more official DICE servers. As of now, we have effectively quadrupled them on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Note that you will still be able to get quick matched into any ranked server. For the best results if you want an official DICE server, please refer to the manual server browser and enter “DICE” as a search term. If you go to the Server information screen, all official DICE servers will have the owner set to “DICE”. Remember that you can favorite servers that you like so you can easily find them again on your next session.
So that should make those with concerns feel a bit better. Personally, I never really had a problem being stuck with player-run servers.  Gamers who ran their own servers usually ran better games since they had the ability to enforce game-types and rules...some of which just generated around fair play.  Also, people need to understand that a game like CounterStrike has not survived this long simply on the validity of its gameplay. While that's a huge part of it, player servers with varied mutations is what kept that game truly alive and interesting for so long beyond just the MLP association.

Well that's some good news. As much as I like to play on custom servers (Higher ticket count, good map choices, ect), sometimes you get in those lobbies where an admin kicks you for looking at him wrong. It'll be nice to have the option to stay away from those admins if you don't want to deal with that.

That being said, I've only gotten banned from 5 servers or so from angering admins.

Is this just the consoles? I've never really had a problem on the PC version.

Furry servers are the best servers.

kinda sucks that ppl had to complain for them to do the "right thing" i mean come on! Did they think they could get away with it? Did they think no one would accuse them of being cheap?

Thank God. I'm sick of those 200%-500% tickets hardcore servers.
