One of the big questions in regard to the NGP is how long can we expect the battery to last? Wired is reporting that the NGP will provide about 4-5 hours of battery life, which put's it just a tad over the battery life of the Nintendo 3DS which sports 3-4 hrs with full 3D enabled.
Sony Europe CEO Andrew House chalked the, admittedly shortish, battery time to the flash media and "beauty" of the screen. “It’s influenced our choice of flash media, versus incorporating a disc drive; and number two, the screen is large and gorgeous" He said " it’s also OLED, which is fantastically good for low power consumption as well.”
So the NPG will be fine for like long bus rides and short plane trips, just don't expect to do any gaming on the taxi ride from the airport.

Sounds like my battery life for my PSP-2000.
I honestly want to know about the backwards compatibility. This NGP is almost a must buy for me. I want to know if i can somehow do backwards gaming with my psp games. I have about 20 PSP titles.

That is actually really good news. I was expecting 3-4 hours. But I'm sure my biggest fear will be realized when they release the price at $300 or some shit.

Yay I can play the poorly controlling console ports for the NGP for an hour longer than I can play the poorly controlling console ports on the 3DS.
I seriously hope that this doesn't become the norm for handheld gaming. I will admit I do like the Touch Pad feature on the back of this thing but I honestly don't see many developers using it to the fullest, at least for a while into the NGP's life cycle

The 3DS' batterylife is 3-5 hours with full 3D ^.^
