Aliens vs. Predator and Rogue Warrior developer, Rebellion Studios, has announced today that they are developing a console sequel to 2005's Sniper Elite. The new game, conspicuously titled Sniper Elite V2, will be published by 505 Games and seems to be in the early stages of development as no release schedule has been divulged so far.
"We're very excited to be working with Rebellion on this highly anticipated sequel. Sniper Elite has always been the benchmark of the genre and never been bettered....until now." said 505 MD Ian Howe as he slowly slinked along the war-torn foundation of a bombed out building.
Finding a target, he raised the scope to his left eye and in a low whisper said, "Guaranteed that the sequel will be the most authentic WW2 sniping experience ever - not just in terms of weapon ballistics, but also in delivering the heart-pulsing tension of those do or die moments where one shot really does matter."
He then took a shot which cracked throughout the plaza as the enemy solider went down. He looked back at us, a warm glow of resignation sliding down his face. "One shot really does matter."

This could work.. if done correctly. However, I fail to see how the studio who made Rogue Warrior is going to be fixing themselves now. I think their team consists of reject video game developers and artists. x-x

I was excited until it said console sequel. How can any realistic sniper game be accurate with a console controller? Are you going to look down the sights and fiddle with the analog stick back and forth until it lines up with an enemy head AND calculate wind and bullet drop for 5 minutes? Or will it be auto-aim? Fun. Sniper Elite still is the best sniper game. So, sorry, this won't work if it is console-exclusive.
