Somebody wake up Hicks.

I have a confession to make: it wasn't until about five or so years ago that I actually saw Aliens for the first time.  I know, I know, that's blasphemous to read but sadly it is the truth.  It was my entry point for the series and I arguably couldn't have picked a better film in the series to see.  Aliens was groundbreaking for its time and James Cameron's film, along with other great movies like John Carpenter's The Thing, changed the way the horror movie genre would be done ever since.

When Gearbox announced back in 2006 and first debuted Aliens Colonial Marines in 2008 I was exstatic.  A four player cooperative experience set in the Aliens universe?  Team cooperation to minimize xenomorph entrypoints?  New species of xenomorphs?!  I was sold the minute I finished that Game Informer cover story but the game's continued absence  from the gaming scene made me worry, especially after Obsidian's Alien RPG was cancelled last year.  When it resurfaced this year at E3 2011 it was the first thing I went to see on day two.  After the short 15 minute demo was over my love for Gearbox was reaffirmed and I hope that, if ACM is present at Pax Prime this weekend, our readers who are attending get to share in my jubillation.

But enough of my babbling, here's the new trailer.

If this game jumps on the Horde Mode bandwagon, I would actually play it. I didn't care for the one in the Halo and Gears of War series but this game would be perfect to put players on edge round after round.

Aliens seem to be those game series that never really changes, hope to this one will shake things up.

Man, I just can't wait for this. As long as it's more Aliens than Alien3 on the quality scale then hell, this could be a day one buy.

Not much of an Aliens fan. I kinda want to see a more concrete block of gameplay but yeah. I like it; wanna see more.

Wow. Wasn't expecting much with this one, but seeing that trailer just changed my mind. Is there a chance that this game will have a campaign co-op?

Anyone else concerned by how almost everything in that trailer looks like a controlled set-piece or cutscene?

It looks....ok....I guess. I don't know. I just had this hope that they might make a game based off the first Alien movie.

Imagine it, just one enemy in the whole game. It stalks you through the whole game. Never knowing when it will attack. All you have is a limited supply of weapons and ammo. The tension would be fantastic.

My god that game would get me excited.

But unfortunately it will never be :(

Could it be? A good Aliens game? I haven't seen one of those since AvP2 on the PC.
Then again, trailers have gotten my hopes up before so i'll wait to see more for things like how much of that was scripted and how much is gameplay.

Welding a door as a gameplay feature is awesome... welding a door at that part in the story, once, is kinda meh.

I love me some Aliens, this is looking far better than the last AvP was. The little bit of gun play that they showed actually looked pretty good.

Man oh man I want this game to be good. I've had 'shooter fatigue' for way too long now, I can't even remember the last First Person Shooter I played, never mind the last one I actually enjoyed. Maybe it was Left 4 Dead 2, I can't remember its been so long. Maybe this will be good, because goddam we need some more, not overbearingly realist, non-war shooters nowadays. Sure we had Bulletstorm, but back on Playstation 2 I had Timesplitters 2 Virus mode, and James Bond: Nightfire Capture the Flag. The competitiveness of modern shooters depresses me, the level of time and effort required to put into memorizing the maps and guns and other stuff, and the feedback loop of people rubbing it in your face for beating you. I hate it.

6 or 7 years ago I could laugh at my friends messing up with the rocket launcher, or getting beat my bots, and they would laugh back. Right now, I get beat on a stupid one-on-one match on Call of Duty by one kill, and they trash talk me. C'mon guys, it really doesn't matter. I just want a fun FPS to play, and this one looks like it could be for once.

The ambiance felt during that trailer, especially in the silent parts, has never felt so truly horrific. Gearbox has a way of crafting unique experiences.. perhaps this could be an ambient shooter.

Alien and the Alien franchise is what got me hooked on creatures, mutants and beasts as a kid- now I feel old- but I just can't bring myself to hate or stay neutral to this game!! I love it!! I have an AVP for PS2, and would've preferred to be able to control the aliens like you control Dante in DMC, or your guy in Assassin's Creed. No point and click Sims crap! Though I do enjoy the Sims if feeling in the mood. I hope in this game you can choose to be either Marine or Alien too. I'm always the Alien....

[...] Let’s just hope they are using the extra time to make an Aliens game worthy of the name. You can see the trailer for the upcoming title here. [...]
