Far Cry 3 was first revealed at E3 2011 and, if you remember, we were more than impressed with the gameplay we were shown. The world was beautiful and open, the shooting solid, and it seemed that the developers had learned from many of the mistakes found in Far Cry 2, which was certainly a divisive game in terms of critical appeal.
Now, following a leak earlier today, Ubisoft, has chosen to release the CGI trailer for Far Cry 3 which seems to settle up the events which start out the game. I know we've been here before, but the trailer is very impressive in terms of tone and quality. It sets up the player in a "stranger in a strange land" scenario which will certainly dovetail nicely into island exploration and character advancement through experience.
I would even go so far as to say that the trailer has a Dead Island cinematic trailer flair to it. Not as emotive sure, but just as gritty and reality driven. Much like Far Cry 2, where your character was certainly one with physical flaws, you'll once again be playing as a real person and not so much the action-adventure character who always seems to be existing on the edge of God Mode.
Oh and that release date? September 7th. I can't wait.

Looking pretty good. Not what i was expecting from a Far Cry game as far as setup goes but i'm interested. Just wish we had seen some actual gameplay. The music wasn't too fitting either BUT that's a minor complaint.
Oh, also, Vaas looks fucking INSANE. I think he's going to make a good video. Loved him in the E3 videos from a while back :)

If it turns out bad but still has a map editor on consoles, I'll end up getting it. An under-appreciated feature of Far Cry II, in my opinion.

I hated Far Cry 2 and this trailer really isn't helping. I don't know if it's I don't understand the series but these games never seemed to appeal to me. I was kind of hoping the next Far Cry game would be more of a survival game like an MGS3 where you feed off the wildness, mixed in with some solid FPS mechanics, and a leveling up system but I might just Gamefly it for the hell of it.

What kills it for me is the "Preorder now and get four free bonus missions". You mean the same crappy bonus missions in Far Cry 2? It's as if this game is going to have the same kind of "missions" in Far Cry 2.... I sure hope not.
